When you receive the blind slats, you should keep them carefully for when you need to repair a blind with broken slats, you can do the following:

Keep the old cords and add new cords

In the position where the bamboo slat is broken, remove it and replace it with a new blind slat in that position, then use the cords to weave it back normally to be usable. The downside of this method is that the old cords are on the outside, if you use the blind on the floor, it can be torn due to friction. The advantage of this method is that it is simple, easy, and quick to do.

The manufacturer often attaches two blind slats so that you can replace them when they are broken.

Replace all the cords, reweave the blind slats

You need to remove the broken bamboo slat first, then cut off the damaged portion of the old cords and connect the prepared new cords. Simply attach the new bamboo slat and secure it with knots, then you have a like-new blind. This method provides high aesthetics to maintain the durability of the blind. However, it requires a lot of time and effort to be able to perform.

This method has the advantage of making the blind look new, the cords are not on the outside, and the blind slats are still maintained. However, it has the disadvantage of taking a lot of time, requiring skillful weaving, and being quite difficult for first-timers.

Keep the old cords, replace the blind slats using glue

First, you need to remove the broken blind slats from the blind. Use a knife to split the new bamboo slat into two parts. Glue the two parts of the newly split slat in the correct position of the broken slat using wood glue or 502 glue.

The advantage is that it is a very quick process. However, if the blind is immersed in water, the blind slats may separate, in this case, you just need to use 502 glue to fix it.

Be very careful when using bamboo blinds because the blind strings are very fragile and can be easily broken or stretched. 

Some notes when using bamboo blinds to avoid damage:

Do not place the blind on a surface with bumps or sharp edges.

Avoid bumping the blind.

Do not expose the blind to intense sunlight for too long.

Do not overlap the blind slats on top of each other.

Do not stretch the blind too much.
